Ever since the opening of the first Church Day School back in 1831, St. Stephen’s has had a very close involvement with children’s education in Lindley. The current Infant School on East Street, was dedicated by the Bishop of Wakefield in 1954 and was then the first of the new Church of England Aided Schools in the Wakefield Diocese.

Today’s inclusive school with its strong Christian ethos and community links is justifiably credited as being an ’outstanding’ school with results placing it well within the top 25% of infant schools in the country.

St. Stephen’s has a very active PCC which meets regularly throughout the year to discuss all matters relating to the church and associated community groups. In addition to our elected Church Wardens Chris and Ian, and Canon John who is Chairman, the main officers of the PCC are:

Meeting most Sundays during the  Parish Communion Service and with a number of special events and outings throughout the year, our Junior Church continues to thrive, giving Mums and Dads a chance to either help out with the activities or take part in the main service. Affectionately known as STYG, our Youth Group  caters for children 11 - 16 years old and meets every fortnight. Like the Junior Church, the children  also take part in a number of special events and outings throughout the year.
